Hi everyone
As many of you know, last month, I had the absolute honour of joining a team of volunteers travelling to Syria, on behalf of Global Relief Trust (GRT), to distribute aid to displaced families and to see first hand some of the truly heartwarming projects that GRT are supporting.
Sadly, Syria holds one of the largest refugee camps globally and my fundraising efforts this far have been to support their shelter project, where the aim is to build 1000 concrete homes, providing families with much needed protection from the elements, a direct source of water, private washroom facilities, a kitchen and also green space.
Each house or apartment will be part of a village and will include shops, a school, a mosque, a communal area and a children’s play area, in the hope of restoring a sense of community.
Construction is well under way and with your continued support, GRT are hopeful that many families will be housed before the end of 2024.
This deployment reminded me that I’m in a privileged position to be able to help. All the things that we simply take for granted and regard as our basic right, such as a home, heating, clean water, food, clothing, access to healthcare and education (the list goes on).. millions of people across the globe are being severely deprived of.
I also learnt that the people of Syria are very resilient and although things are extremely bleak at the moment, they and the team at GRT are hopeful of a brighter future.
If you can, please support my fundraising efforts, by donating via the following link and sharing with your friends and family.
Every penny really does help.

The support that I’ve received just over the last month, has been truly overwhelming and I can’t thank you enough.
Kind regards
Aysha
