Hassaan's Story
✅ Raised for Hassaan: £2,503 out of £2,500
Displaced from Syria due to the war, Hassaan also lost both of his legs in the recent Hatay earthquake as he rescued others from the rubble. He now has a permanent disability, and is the sole male guardian of his two girls and his sister's four children whose father died in the war. Hassaan smiles as he welcomes us into his home and he explains, this is qadr (destiny) and 'we always give thanks to Allah ﷻ'.
Your donations (please reference HASSAAN when donating) will help support Hassaan and his family with their living costs including rent, food, healthcare and essentials.
Shelter Project
🏠 Raised for Shelter Project: £7,228 out of £7,500
In Ramadan of March '24, I had the privilege of visiting refugee camps in Syria where thousands of families have been forced to flee due to war and the recent earthquake. Almost every person we spoke to has lost a member of their family due to either or both, with long-lasting devastation across the region.
Global Relief Trust is currently working to move displaced Syrian families from their wind-beaten tents into a concrete homes which they will permanently own and are fitted with a direct water supply. Each home will consist of a living space, bathroom and kitchen and the surrounding village will have a school, mosque, shops, as well as communal and children's spaces.
These new homes will provide not only essential shelter from the weather, but also a sanitary environment, clean water and restoration of privacy and dignity for every family living there. Development for this village is due to be completed by the end of July, ready for families to move into in August 2024. All homes will be legally owned by the beneficiaries with paper of deeds signed to them along with the keys. Zakat or sadaqah/lillah eligible.
