Rays of Hope is a British charity in Southampton (UK) that has an implementation partner also called Rays of Hope in Sanliurfa (Turkey). Iqra Academy is a project of Rays of Hope which provides basic Islamic education for Syrian refugees and orphans. Rays of Hope provides literacy classes to thousands of refugees in Turkey who missed their education due to many difficulties.
With your donation of $124 USD it helps support a child for the whole year.

The Qari (Syrian refugee) will have 40 hours/month (or 10 hours a week) of high quality education in literacy (mainly focused on reading and writing). Along with that, the child gets mental and emotional support to help him/her to deal with trials and tests of life.
Additionally, the pupils get occasional meals, books, stationery, a Quran, etc. This educational work with the Syrian (refugee) children is more important now more than ever after the Syrian/Turkish earthquake.
These children are going through calamity after calamity. Keeping them nurtured in these classes will give them hope and strengthen their mental resilience to survive these tough trials and tests. Click “SUPPORT” to donate £100 to support a child for one year.
What we are doing is life-saving support for the mental and spiritual well-being of the refugee children, and it is essential, enabling work with those affected by the Syrian war and now by the earthquake. Iqra is the first divine word that was revealed to the Prophet Muhammad, peace and blessing be upon him, and it was the beginning of the light that dispelled the darkness of ignorance.
In honour and belief of this blessed Word (the Quran), Iqra Academy was established.
It is mainly concerned with the teaching of the Arabic language and the Holy Quran, and carrying the Quran's message and communicating it to the whole world through quality programs and projects.
{اقْرَأْ وَرَبُّكَ الْأَكْرَمُ (۳) الَّذِي علم بالقلم (٤) عَلَّمَ الْإِنْسَانَ مَا لَمْ يَعْلَمْ (5) }
“Read, and your Lord is the Most Generous (3) Who taught by the pen (4) Taught man what he knew not.” (Quran).
The student will go through 5 educational stages or phases:
Stage 1: هيَّا نقرأ: Let’s read
An educational program that takes students out of the darkness of ignorance into the light of knowledge and understanding, through the mastery of the spelling and fluently blending methods of the Arabic language over a period of time ranging from six to eight months.
This program is accompanied by a plan to train students on proper Arabic writing.
At the end of the program, the student undergoes an examination, and the successful candidate is granted a certificate in “Proper Arabic Reading”.
Stage 2: ورتِّل Rattil (Recite):
Part of the good companionship of the Book of Almighty Allah is the recitation and intonation of its verses as Allah revealed it to His Prophet Muhammad, may Allah bless him and grant him peace.
A program that deals with the recitation of the Noble Qur’an by looking at the book with complete precision, fluency and perfection within a gradual process that takes into account the different levels of students.
The student undergoes several interim exams, and the successful student is granted a Mastery Examination Award.
This is accompanied by an educational and spiritual curriculum of faith to purify the souls and to develop the minds..
Indeed, it is We who sent down the Qur'an and indeed, We will be its guardian.
Allah singled out the nation of Muhammad to memorize and preserve the Qur’an and defend it, until Allah ordains the Final Hour.
Stage 3: أَشَرَافُ أُمَّتِي The Nobles of My Nation
A program concerned with memorizing the entire Holy Qur’an by heart through an elaborate plan for memorization and revision
Students undergo multiple monthly tests and interim exams on all of their recorded learning, with a focus on instilling virtues and noble morals in the hearts and the behavior of students through an educational curriculum and approach, that prepares students to be the true bearers of the Qur'an and the ‘preservers of the Qur'an’ and the ‘Nobles of the Ummah’.
Then we caused to inherit the Book those We have chosen of Our servants; and among them is he who wrongs himself, and among them is he who is moderate, and among them is he who is foremost in good deeds by permission of Allah. That [inheritance] is what is the great bounty.
يَقُولُ عبد الله بنُ المباركِ رحمهُ الله: الإِسنادُ مِنَ الدِّين ولولا الإسنادُ لقالَ منْ شاءَ ما شاءْ.
Abdullah bin Al-Mubarak, may Allah have mercy on him, says: The Esnaad (authentic attribution) is part of the religion, and had it not been for the Esnaad, whoever wanted would have said whatever he wanted.
Stage 4: مقرأةُ إقرأ : Maqra’a of Iqraa
A high quality program that aims at graduating groups of Huffaz (those who have memorised the Quran) with the frequent readings and the different Qira’ats (narrations) of the Prophet Muhammad, may Allah bless him and grant him peace.
Stage 5: Teacher Training Project: مشروعُ تأهيلِ المعلمين
Because the teacher is the cornerstone of education, Iqraa Academy is concerned with qualifying teachers to serve the community through specialised courses in teaching methods and skills development so that they can be up to a level of professionalism and to convey the message with full authenticity.
